In collaboration with Format Artspace Rune Fjord and Esben Horn invites you to the opening of Infested located in Adelgade.
A giant ball with an organic surface fills the space, with small roots protruding from underneath it and crawling across the tiled floor. A handful of small semi-transparent fruit-like bodies grope like fingers from one side of it. In a window, fossilized bones and teeth of enormous size hang, wrapped and fastened to the ceiling with leather straps. Welcome to Infested.
The exhibition invites reflection on the great questions of life and death. Diving into a world where the boundaries between the beautiful and the macabre, between creation and decay, are blurred. Infested is an experience that provides new perspectives on the nature of life and death. There are small and larger sculptures of bones, eggs, teeth, and skulls. The materials are bronze, ceramic, resin, and acrylic plaster. Old craftsmanship combined with 3D-modeled and printed elements. New meets old, noble meets the vulgar in beautiful balance.
Rune Fjord is a practicing visual artist focusing on audience-engaging laboratory formats, and Esben Horn creates scientifically accurate models of animals and plants for museums around the world. Together, they create projects where two worlds meet and unexpected things happen.
As part of the exhibition, smaller versions of the exhibited works in Infested have been created, which will be displayed in the windows of Format Artspace in Nansensgade.
