Denmark's largest studio building for professional artists and designers opens its doors on Saturday, May 25, under the theme REGENERATIVE COMMUNITIES. In keeping with tradition, several of FABRIKKEN's artists and designers will open their studios, host artist talks, performances, and an open workshop for children and their adults.
Performance art is the focal point for this year's theme: the role of art as a regenerative community. Artist Signe Vad has curated a two-part program that activates FABRIKKEN's large hall in collaboration with artists, local stakeholders at Sundholm, and guests, in an exchange of resources and conversations, all facilitated by selected performances. At the Open House from 3-6 pm, 4 performances are recreated in new settings by artists Eliyah Mesayer, Jonas Okholm Jensen, Jessie Kleemann, and Mycelium, all from the series "Voices of Pythia" curated by The Syndicate of Creatures. Concurrently, studios are open hosting selected artist talks, coffee, and cake at affordable prices, and a creative workshop for children from 3-5 pm in FABRIKKEN's red pavilion, hosted by artist Esben Klemann and Christel Barbara Kraft.
Participation in the program until 6 pm is free for everyone. Most performances and talks will be held in Danish. The 2nd part of FABRIKKEN's Open House features a performative long-table dinner and requires registration via separate event. The event is organized in collaboration with Activity House Sundholm, Maskinhallen, and Bybi, and is supported by Amager Vest & Øst Local Councils.
