Join us for a conversation about care in the welfare state and in the arts with author Liv Duvå and researcher Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt in relation to Ditte Gantriis' exhibition Institution is something we all get as a birth gift in Politiken's Forhal. The talk is held in collaboration with Politiken's Bookshop.
With fine craftsmanship and heartfelt motifs incorporated and set in contrast to the cool, institutional framework of Politikens Forhal, the Danish visual artist Ditte Gantriis transforms Politikens Forhal into an exhibition space where society and intimate care are pitted against each other.
Where author Liv Duvå's newly published anthology The Mother Element is about caring for other people, her forthcoming novel Down From the Sky asks who has the right to define the good life for children in a welfare state. Meanwhile, researcher Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt analyzes from a feminist perspective the production and reception of art with conditions for domestic work and reproductive tasks taken into account.
Together, Duvå and Schmidt will approach care on a governmental, intimate and artistic level in relation to the exhibition. The talk is held in collaboration between Politikens Forhal and Politikens Boghal and will be moderated by author, critic and curator Maria Kjær Themsen.
