2112 is pleased to invite you to their first solo exhibition with late Danish artist Eva Weis Bentzon (1944 – 2018).
The exhibition presents Eva Weis Bentzon’s monumental work Gåde from 1986/1987. During her lifetime, Weis Bentzon lived and worked in Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, and New York, and was driven by an ongoing curiosity in natural science and the modern human condition. Weis Bentzon’s paintings from the 80s and 90s present bold, expressionist brush strokes that bear witness to their moment of creation and embody the artist’s passion and impulsivity. Modern dance and the way a dancer’s body interact with space and gravity were also topics of investigation and she strongly admired cross disciplinary practices such as Merce Cunningham and Jasper Johns’ collaborations.
