Which stories ride the waves? Which stories have been allowed to rise and surf on the crest of the waves? Which voices are crushed by and under the weight of the waves?

Which stories ride the waves? Which stories have been allowed to rise and surf on the crest of the waves? Which voices are crushed by and under the weight of the waves?

Upon embarking on the journey that artist Jeannette Ehlers takes us on in Even After, we are swept away into a vast ocean of re-membering, carried by the sounds of crashing waves and distant drumming.
Which stories ride the waves? Which stories have been allowed to rise and surf on the crest of the waves? Which voices are crushed by and under the weight of the waves? These questions, posed by sociologist Prince Henry Kwesi Asare in relation to a recent exhibition opening by Ehlers, shape the portals from which Ehlers’ new body of work emerge from and through.
