”Art criticism in Denmark risks disappearing completely if politicians and the media do not jointly prioritize the public conversation about art,” writes AICA, the Association of Danish Art Critics, in a statement from 2024.
AICA has therefore teamed up with the exhibition venue Politikens Forhal for a seminar focusing on art criticism in the Danish media today. Together, they have invited editors, politicians, researchers and art professionals to speak. Here, they will discuss success stories and ask questions such as: Can art criticism be published in ways that can attract new readers in the current Danish media landscape? Should politicians ensure art criticism as an alternative to the attention economy of the tech giants? And what is the situation with the geographical reach of art criticism?
