In a performance exploring belonging and identity, the Oracle from Lahore sits beneath her veil, engaging the audience in a direct and sensuous exchange. Holding the cultural scepter, the oracle speaks in tongues from a three-legged stool. Her prophetic messages, dusted in the rose-colored hues of Lahore, settle into the space and probe the legacy of the spiritual – all that is unseen, that cannot be grasped in Presence, but is felt through Absence, carried by the cultural riddles of language.
The Oracle from Lahore is a live performance recorded in a single take. The resulting soundscape becomes an independent spoken word piece, played in the Basement at Lake House.
Can the oracle’s visions and interpretations form poetic soundtracks that transcend borders? What truths can be revealed in the time we live in?
