Javier Tapia's exhibition PAGODA consists of a total installation, where topics such as sustainability, respect and tolerance towards other cultures are at the center.
The installation combines plants and a selection of carved images, which originate from Tapia's ongoing archival work, where he searches for cultural and historical references in art history and in geopolitics. The installation thus brings a wide range of references to our cultural landscape, which lie outside the Eurocentric storytelling, and provides insight into and invites conversation about a decolonial idea of cultural production, which should leave an echo in our contemporary society.
Space for Aesthetics is an experimental and engaging exhibition platform with a clear mission to democratize the access to art. At Space for Aesthetics, we take it seriously that participation in the arts is a human right, and we therefore develop collaborative and engaging art projects with a sharp focus on equal access to positive encounters with art, regardless of our guests' backgrounds. Our exhibitions always involve free and publicly accessible art clubs for children, talks, food events, performances, concerts, education for schoolchildren, art courses for daycare centers and much more.
