On Perspective is an audiovisual installation with a rotating video projector centrally located in platform BUNKER's circular space, created by video artist Magnus Pind.
Based on the history of perspective drawing, the artwork explores how we historically and today depict and grasp the world. The artwork is a modern interpretation of the panorama painting – a genre that flourished in the 19th century as a proto-cinematic entertainment technology, and which still exists today. The panorama painting has left its mark on today's entertainment technologies, such as virtual reality, IMAX, and immersive installations, all of which are based on a semi-naturalistic 360-degree reproduction of the physical world.
Perspective drawing is a fundamental premise for these technologies, and generally for our depictions of the world. On Perspective investigates the relationship between our perception of the world and our experience of it.
On Perspective is based on research and experiments conducted during a residency in Berlin in the spring of 2023.
For more than a decade, Magnus Pind has created video installations and performances as an ongoing visual analysis of the technological, societal, and personal systems that shape our lives. His work has been presented at Kunsthal Aarhus, Kunstforeningen Gl. Strand, MUTEK festival, and Transmediale, among others.
An old Cold War bunker in the heart of Frederiksberg serves as a venue for experimental contemporary art, showcasing national and international artists. platform BUNKER is curated by Rebekka Bohse Meyer and Sól Ey.
On Perspective is specifically developed for the platform BUNKER's unique globe-shaped architecture.
