Under is a group exhibition with contributions from twenty artists curated by fourteen independent exhibition platforms from Denmark and a few from Sweden. The variety of contributions points to the great diversity in exhibition practices that we have witnessed in recent years. Various live formats such as performances, concerts, debates and talks are also part of the programme and help to underline the same will and desire to create a vibrant and community-seeking scene among the participating artists and platforms.
Saturday, May 24th, 12:00-5:00 PM. The following events will take place during the day:
12:30-1:15 PM: guided tour by curatorial team Fafaya Mogensen and Nikolaj Stobbe
2:00-3:00 PM: panel discussion Formats in Time between three of the exhibiting platforms. Moderated by curator Fafaya Mogensen
4:00-4:45 PM: performative dance lecture by artist Stacey de Voe
Formats in Time (2:00-3:00 PM)
Supposedly, "we live in the sand between seconds." I recently bought two hourglasses on Craigslist. Hourglasses are the only things I would ever consider haggling over, after all, time is money. I buy them because they remind me of how time can be measured, how it cascades, accumulates, and disperses. I now have so many hourglasses that I've started to feel as though I'm drowning in time. So, I began giving them away to those around me—there’s something comforting in the idea that time is something we share. In this way, I suppose I'm doing everyone a kind of public service by rescuing time discarded on Craigslist and, in turn, having time to give. When I give my time away, I also remind the person that to see time spent, you have to be fully present.
Which brings us to the panel discussion with inter.pblc, Matteo Canteralla and All all all. These platforms are deeply invested in the notion of time—how it is captured, consumed, performed and given back. And just as each hourglass holds its own measure of time, these platforms offer a space to experience, question, and reimagine how we relate to the notion of time.
The panel will be moderated by Fafaya Mogensen
