Tal R (born Tal Rosenzweig in 1967 in Tel Aviv) is among Denmark’s most influential contemporary visual artists. His practice is characterized by a vivid and imaginative approach, in which motifs and materials are combined in open, associative sequences. Drawing on art historical references, including Symbolism, Fauvism, and Naivism, he works in dialogue with both historical and contemporary visual traditions.
In the exhibition at Gl. Holtegaard, Tal R presents his sculptural work from the past 20 years. The exhibition includes works in materials such as clay, bronze, wood, plaster, and textile, demonstrating the breadth of his material exploration and formal investigations. The sculptures appear as composite figures and organic constructions, where different elements are connected and displaced.
The works are marked by uneven surfaces, bent structures, and an interplay between recognizable and more abstract forms. They move between the figurative and the dissolved, pointing to a sustained interest in change, process, and transformation.
With the title MOONWALK, the exhibition suggests a movement through an unknown landscape, where fixed rules are suspended. Visitors are invited into a poetic universe where new connections emerge, and where the works fully unfold in the encounter with the viewer.
