Stig Weye and Steffan Herrik. Bronzes, paintings, graphics and much more. Spring light is shining upon us after dark winter. We celebrate that by showing lavishness of forms and colours on springs grand exhibition with more than 50 new artworks. Also on show is contemporary jewellery crafted by Anette og Michael Arleth.
Stig Weye b. 1946 is an alchemist of colours, who conjures up paintings of the most brilliant and glowing colours. He paints thin, transparent layers of acrylic and fernis alternating, and mixes dragons blood and magic in pigments, making his works seeming to be under water. Stigs motifs are loaded with stories of everyday life, music, tales, carnival, myths and religion. ”Youth was jazz”, says Stig, and he played both bass, piano and the trumpet, and toured with bands like Leonardo Petersens and Søndergaard/Neehammer. Even though music still flows in Stigs veins, he changed for art painting with the ambitious words: ”It is a scary lack of paintings in this world, and I am going to try to change that.”
Steffan Herrik b. 1950 has an avian perspective on World. From his atelier at Fyn Gumozos, birdlike creatures, fly out in great numbers and settle amidst us all. Steffan is sculptor, painter and graphical artist with a long oevre of exhibitions at museums and galleries all over the country. He combines steel scrap and asphalt in his works, and often uses them as scetches for further studies in bronze and other materials. Steffans Gumozos touchdown in Gallery Arleth for the third time, this time to have a touching dialogue with Stigs paintings
