About the artists
Ruth Campau (b. 1955) works with painting in an expanded field, focusing on how her works interact with their surroundings. Her paintings are created through long, concentrated brushstrokes that capture the artist’s movement in the paint. The works can be understood as fragments of a larger, infinite painting, while also referencing the painterly act and the body that created them. Her works often take the form of large installations, immersive environments, or site-specific projects.
Lars Christensen (b. 1972) works in various media and is most known for his innovations in Geometric Abstraction and his explorations into the subjective experience of color. He is mainly preoccupied with painting and sculpture, which are often included as part of serial sequences. Christensen expresses himself through simple, but at the same time, complex forms, thereby expanding the possibilities for interpretation. His practice is founded on an interest in the partially connected phenomenological and postmodernist currents in art theory, philosophy, literature, and sociology.
Mads Gamdrup (b. 1967) explores the interplay of light and color across various artistic mediums. With over three decades dedicated to photography, his entry to painting, may appear radical at first glance. Yet, within the context of Gamdrup’s artistic evolution, this transition feels not just logical but essential to his ongoing exploration of light. He has consistently sought to distill his artistic vision, stripping away representational elements to focus solely on light’s emotive power; constantly emphasizing its relation to both color and material.
