Una Storia di Acqua is an aesthetic experiment on how to work cinematically with the unseen productions of our imaginations. When waking up from a dream, one instantly produces images and feelings from what one remembers. Later one might tell the dream to a friend, who then produces other images and feelings. However, in both situations a hidden production is ever flowing underneath the surface. What comes to the surface and what stays underneath? Is there a hidden potential in the sharing of this unknown production?
Una Storia di Acqua takes place in northern Italy. Shot in three main locations the film tells a story of ecologies of production, phantasms and friendships flowing through the rocky landscape of the Italian Riviera. How do these invisible flows affect people? How does ecology play a role in this affect? This film is an attempt to explore these questions by, most of all, letting the camera observe where they are and where they might be. We thereby observe the surface to feel what is underneath – what is ever flowing and changing. Shared, imaginative material gives ways for a production of distinctly other ideas.
