The marathon has since become a video work titled Ups & Downs Around a Sun - Again, which is being shown for the first time in Achong Karker's solo exhibition at Skjold Contemporary, located within the confines of the changing rooms at Østerbro Stadion.
Around a Sun reflects on distance, childhood memories, and processes of grief.
In the exhibition's sound work, which envelops the space, we are torn away from the Earth and up to the sun and out into the universe to the Voyager satellite - the farthest human-made object from Earth. Here, we are allowed to linger for a while before being pulled back down to Earth - into ourselves and back to the memory of a lost childhood.
In the cyclical repetitive words "Again," "Again," "Again," repeated in the video work Ups & Downs Around a Sun - Again, linear time dissolves, reminding us instead that we move from one state to another.
