In one of Copenhagen’s busiest bus routes, passengers can experience works by the five winners of this year’s Open Call competition during the Art Matter Festival 2026. From 27 May to 7 June, each bus on line 2A will feature one of the five selected works, offering passengers an art experience along a route that runs from Tingbjerg through the city centre, across Rådhuspladsen and Christianshavn, to Refshaleøen.
Under the theme “togetherness”, Movia has once again partnered with Art Matter Festival to bring art into public transport. The project gives five selected non-professional talents the opportunity to have their work exhibited in buses on line 2A, which transports more than 20,000 passengers across the capital every day.
The project was launched as an open call, announced via social media and on Art Matter’s platform opencall.nu, where anyone with an emerging artistic practice could submit their work. The five winners were selected from more than 450 submissions by a unanimous jury consisting of representatives from Movia and Art Matter.
Art on the Move also takes shape in a dedicated pop-up exhibition as part of Art Matter Festival’s public programme. The jury has selected 20 works from the submitted entries, which will be presented in their original formats, giving audiences the opportunity to explore a wider range of the artistic voices that took part in the competition.
