What happens when contemporary art steps out of the white cube and into lived life? When the artwork is no longer something observed from a distance, but something touched, worked into, and marked by your own hand?
Coloring Sheet is a curatorial group format developed by FOYERcontemporary for Eventyrkiosken in Fælledparken. Selected contemporary artists have each been invited to develop an original work, translated into a freely available black-and-white drawing sheet. These are not reproductions – they are autonomous works in another format, created to be activated by whoever holds them.
The format takes its point of departure in the drawing sheet – a democratic and universally recognisable tool – and lifts it into an artistic and social practice. The public is invited into an open dialogue with the work: without demands, without prior knowledge of art, without anything right or wrong. Only the encounter between hand, paper and the artist’s universe.
During the exhibition period, the artists’ original works are presented together in Eventyrkiosken – as a wall exhibition or booklet – so that process and finished form meet in the same space. Coloring Sheet is a pause, an opening and an invitation to enter art on your own terms.
The sheets are available free of charge at Eventyrkiosken, Fælledparken. Open to all.
