The NEXT GENERATION is an exhibition that unfolds across FABRIKKEN, offering a rare glimpse into a new generation of artists and designers at a pivotal moment in their development.
Curated by David Risley, the exhibition brings together 12 artists from FABRIKKEN’s studio programme, each with distinct practices, perspectives, and approaches. Rather than imposing a single framework, the exhibition embraces contrast, diversity, and the productive tensions between different ways of working.
Risley, who has his studio at FABRIKKEN, draws directly on the character of the space itself—noisy, busy, active, and far removed from the neutral “white cube” often expected of an exhibition space. The result is an exhibition that does not attempt to impose a unifying framework on the 12 talents, or their work, rather it will celebrate their differences and mutual incompatibilities. Works are placed throughout the space, encouraging visitors to explore and encounter art in dialogue with the building’s everyday life and offers a unique opportunity to experience the expressions of the emerging talent in the environment where it is created.
The exhibition opens during Open House on May 30, 14–18, and remains open until Wednesday, June 3.
