Join us for the performance Onomatopoeia for a Hissing Kettle: Part One by Mark Tholander. Through dance and song, Tholander invites us to explore ideas about normality, otherness and the ‘monsters’ hidden in our perceptions.
The performance can be experienced in connection with the exhibition Critters and Quiet Oddities at ODP3, where Tholander is exhibiting together with Sophia Ioannou Gjerding. The exhibition is curated by Koffi & Højgaard and supported by Vesterbro Lokaludvalg and Rådet for Visuel Kunst in the City of Copenhagen.
About the performance Onomatopoeia for a Hissing Kettle: Part One
A group of beekeepers move like ghosts through Onkel Dannys Plads. They reach out to each other and try to cooperate, but the bees have disappeared. The performance combines dance, music and acting. Through this, the beekeepers experience a series of memories, where hope for a new future and rebuilding relationships gradually emerges through their ritual remembrance.
About the exhibition Critters and Quiet Oddities
The exhibition will explore ideas of normality, otherness and the ‘monsters’ in our unconscious perceptions. Both artists will approach these themes in their own unique way - Gjerding through video installations and Tholander through performance and installation - and each of their artistic practices invites the audience to reconsider the familiar and embrace the potential of the unknown.
