Based on the project Archive of Beauty & Decay, Rune Fjord and 6th-grade students have explored the connections between body, landscape, and nature. Under the title Close Encounters, students from the Munkegård School have worked with impressions of their own bodies in clay, shaping and constructing temporary “dwellings” for the body in and on the earth.
The installation takes the form of a collective sculpture, encompassing both individual imprints and a shared narrative about humanity’s close relationship with nature. The work is presented as an outdoor installation, where the materials gradually decompose and become part of nature’s cycles.
The project offers participants the opportunity to experience how art can foster reflection on presence, transience, and the relationship between humans and their surroundings. Combining play, sensorial engagement, and artistic immersion, the project supports meaningful encounters between young people, art, and nature.
