Visit The Black Diamond - The Royal Library's cultural centre, whose distinctive monolithic architecture slopes out over Copenhagen Harbour.
The Black Diamond offers a wide range of cultural experiences, exhibitions, and art installations – including Per Kirkeby's impressive ceiling painting covering 210 m2 and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen's Mermaid on the harbour quay.
Experience highlights from The Royal Library's vast collections in The Diamond's permanent exhibitions of cultural and art historical treasures, and explore the changing special exhibitions. The Diamond presents three special exhibitions each year – often centred on photography.
The Black Diamond also hosts around 80 events per year, where you can enjoy concerts, literature and
photo talks, guided tours, and much more. You can also find The Queen's Hall – one of Northern Europe's best chamber music halls.
When you are saturated with impressions, you can explore The Diamond's shop, filled with art and photo books, fiction, exhibition posters, and much more. You can also take a break in the café on the harbour front or visit one of Copenhagen's best-kept green secrets: The lush library garden, over 100 years old.
