Ruby Mariama (b. 1993) is a Norwegian multidisciplinary artist of Gambian heritage living and working between Copenhagen, Norway, and Sweden. She holds a BA in Fashion and Textile, and is currently completing a BA in Fine Arts. Working across textile, clay, metal, wood, plastic, and digital animation, Mariama’s practice combines storytelling, material experimentation, and world-building.
Mariama creates immersive environments populated by hybrid beings, objects, and technologies, and evolving ecosystems. Drawing on fantasy, science fiction, and Afro-diasporic perspectives, she develops alternative worlds in which memory, myth, and technology intersect. She has participated in several exhibitions, most recently the Spring Exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen in 2026.
